Hala Swearingen

Hala (Wittwer) Swearingen creates her paintings with acrylic and oil paint. Her artwork has received recognition in national and international competitions sponsored by Society of Illustrators New York, Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, Communication Arts, Spectrum, and the Art Renewal Center. Hala earned her MFA at the Art Institute of Boston in 2009 and taught at California State University Fullerton in the Visual Arts program for 6 years. In 2015, she moved on to teach at Southern Utah University in the Filmmaking, Art and Design Department's Illustration program. Some of her clients include Bath and Body Works, Gamewright Inc., HarperCollins, Hyperion, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Penguin/Putnam, Random House, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Somerset House, and Tor Books. Hala enjoys experimenting with media and learning new art-making techniques. Her love of music and her walks in nature inspire her visual artwork.
