Emily Hamel

Emily Hamel is a mixed-media painter whose work explores the fragility and resilience of the human experience. Drawing from a life shaped by the loss of her mother, childhood trauma, undiagnosed autism, and severe chronic illness, her art examines the cyclical nature of death, rebirth, and transformation.
She began creating art as a child while recovering from major surgeries and long hospital stays, using drawing as her primary means of communication when verbal expression felt impossible. Art became both a refuge and a voice—a way to make meaning from suffering and to stay connected to life during years of physical decline.
After earning her degree in Technical Theater and spending two decades working in retail to support her medical needs, she has committed fully to her art practice. Her work aims to help viewers access the emotions they often repress, guiding them toward introspection, authenticity, and self-discovery.
Her mission is to inspire others on their own hero’s journeys—transforming pain into insight, silence into expression, and vulnerability into strength.
