Génévieve May attended BAACA in California in 2015 where she studied color theory with Graydon Parish as well as figure painting with Steven Early and cadavers with Michael Grimaldi. Upon graduating the university of Hartford, she became an oil painter for Jeff Koons at this studio in NYC. From the beginning, Génévieve was sure this was a temporary job but living in the city allowed her to apprentice under artist Brad Kunkle who she still considers to be her mentor currently. Génévieve left her placement at Koons and prepared for her one woman show at EBK Gallery in Hartford where she found local strangers to model for her.

Génévieve’s work is a cross between representational and ethereal portraiture. She was accepted twice with multiple pieces in various categories in the ARC catalog and is currently showing her work at Church Boutique, an avant-garde art and fashion gallery based in West Hollywood CA. Her newest series incorporates her passion for snakes as well as women’s empowerment.
